Wooden clock

It is a block of wood with a digital display. link Looks cool but is a bit on the steep side. By which I mean a lot. I'm considering building one, might be hard to make it look good. I guess its a block of wood which is gouged out really thin where they want the line to appear, then light is shone through the remaining wood. The only hard bit would be to make the light shine through evenly, otherwise it would look rubbish.

I don't know how new they are, (actually I can't be arsed to go back and check the date on them for you) all I do know is that they appeared since last time I checked them. Pretty funny but nowhere near his best work. Incidently check out the article "a tribute to real men" and the one about the email he received regarding what women want. How bored can you get?

I am a fond player of garry's mod and I was browsing through the forums the other day when I noticed a thread called the Pixel contest. For those of you who dont know gmod is a half life 2 modification which basically sets you play around with all the props from the game. You can build things by welding the props together, you can add wheels, thrusters, baloons, ropes.... there are endless possibilities. So back to this pixel contest; the idea was to make a picture out of wooden crates, using them as if they were pixels. I had the great idea of making space invaders. I was the first to post and everyone seemed to like it. Then some wanker said someone had done it before me and blamed me for being unoriginal. This pissed me off somewhat, that and the fact somone else made a pixel picture that was a heap of shit and yet a lot of people thought it was amazing. Grrr. So to regain my pride, or to make myself seem like a total loser with way to much time (depending how you look at it) I decided to undertake a mammoth operation. The previous pictures had been made from a fair few boxes, then either boxes were deletedt to make a picture, or the boxes were coloured, but with only about 4 different colours. So the one I have started making is 32x32 boxes large (don't get your calculator out, its 1024 boxes in total) and each box is going to be individually coloured by hand. A pain staking operation which requires two computers and a hell of a lot of time. I just hope I finish it before the competition closes, otherwise I might just have to kill some small children.

Its been a while.

It sure has been a while. I turned 18 on thursday, perhaps an epic point in a persons life, perhaps a day that people remember for the rest of their life.... I had three chemistry exams in a row. Damned mock Alevels. So anyhow, Im sitting at home now bored out of my mind, trying to write some thaknyou letters and really not getting very far. I don't understand how it is that I find it so easy to blurt out random crap all over this blog but I can't write a damned letter to save my life. I don't know if anyone is the same, but I always get half-way through a sentance then stop, and I have nothing to add to the sentance but it is too short to end it there. So I go watch TV. Generally doesn't help the problem, but certainly stops me stabbing myself in the eye with my pen.

I don't know how long this idea has been around, but I saw it recently and as long as it doesn't cost too much it could turn out to be a worthwhile investment. Especially if you go and stay in a town abroad and you find insecure wireless networks leeking through all the walls, it will save you a fortune on phone bills. - and I have seen people spend well over £100 on mobile phone bills in a month, perhaps I should persuade all my friends to get them too...
